This text provides a modestly different way of presenting organic chemistry. Most chapters are organized around reaction types and mechanisms, and while the overall layout is similar to classical texts (introducing chemistry by functional group) the emphasis is more on progressively introducing reaction types. I am not sure it would be the best option for learning o-Chem from scratch (Klein is an awesome text for that) but it is very good for refreshing organic chemistry if you have been introduced to it elsewhere. It is excellent in mapping these reaction types onto biological chemistry examples.
