This one's a very obscure release and a rare find.As the title Sin Songs, Torch and Romance suggests, Alomd departs from the electro music of Soft Cell to do this like an intimate theatre show at Almeida. Act 1 consists of Russian Romance songs mostly tragic and dark like the Diva himself. And also some good natured histrionic. He scolds himself foe messing up a song in the earlier show :I'm rubbish!" There are a couple of songs at the end of Act 1 such as a Lou Reed number Caroline Says which did not fit with the Russian theme, but still performed with gusto nonetheless.Act 2 is more jazzy. Marc Almond does Frank Sinatra's Strangers In The Night. In the bonus DVD interview, he interprets the song as people cruising for love. Fans of his pop stuff will like A Lover Spurned and a special one nite only rendition of Say Hello Wave Goodbye with audience participation. Again he goes off the weird and humorous end saying he has not "attacked and verbally abused" any of his audience yet.The DVD also includes some bonus footage of Alomnd rehearsing some songs not on the main concert. It adds to the whole experience of Sin SongsThis one is great if you are looking for the kind of quiet and intimate performances of romance and tragedy. I never knew Marc Almond did stuff like that until I found a remote copy of this.Sin Songs Torch and Romance is a rare and precious musical gem from the Diva of Darkness!
